BNP Paribas Cardif returns to India with IndiaFirst Life

M&A – Five years after pulling out of India’s savings market, BNP Paribas is set to return through its subsidiary BNP Paribas Cardif. The banking group’s insurer, led by Pauline Leclerc-Glorieux, will acquire a 26% stake in IndiaFirst Life from private-equity firm Warburg Pincus. The local insurer will remain majority-owned by Indian bank Bank of Baroda.
